Mendocino residents and visitors can celebrate this Memorial Day weekend with fun and educational events during the 4th Annual Mendocino Heritage Days. Heritage roses walks, movie history, and historic walking tour of the town are among the many events celebrating the Mendocino Coast’s history.
Living History Day: On Sunday, May 27, from 11 am–3 pm, the Village of Mendocino will step back in time with 1850’s lifestyle demonstrations, including butter churning, spinning, weaving, quilting, knitting, and 19th century games. Join in with today’s Volunteer Fire Department to demonstrate their 1887 hand-pumped fire engine. Watch Mr. Jerome Ford as he rides up in a reenactment of his 1851 journey up the wild coastline from Bodega Bay. Native American basket weavers and dancers will join this year’s event, and White Wolf returns with games and storytelling. Event host: Ford House Visitor Center, 735 Main St., Mendocino, 707-937-5397. For the complete calendar of events for Heritage Days: www.MendocinoHeritage.org
