Chris Woods: Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden’s New Exec

chris-woods-photo-003.jpg Born in England and now a U.S. citizen, Chris Woods moved to the United States in 1981 and was director and chief garden designer for Chanticleer Garden. He transformed this private estate in Wayne, Pennsylvania, into a world-renowned public garden. In 2003 he became vice president for horticulture and external operations at Santa Barbara Botanic Garden and then executive director of the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy before becoming Executive Director at VanDusen Botanical Garden, his most recent position. Painting by J.D. MayhewInspired by the late J.D. Mayhew, the 5th Mendocino Art Center’s Annual Marine Wildlife Exhibit brings to life a diversity of wildlife represented in a variety of media. The 50 pieces, selected from over 100, were submitted by artists around the country and will be on exhibit through March 29. For more information on the Marine Wildlife Exhibit, please call 707-937-5818. The Mendocino Art Center is located at 45200 Little Lake Street (at Kasten Street) in Mendocino Village. The gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. March 8 – Second Saturday Reception from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Admission Free.
