My wife Gerry and I took a leisurely Sunday drive today 50 miles south to the Mendocino Coast’s “banana belt” (where it is sunny when the rest of the coast is shouded in fog) to check out the annual Studio Discovery Tour. From Albion to Sea Ranch, painters, sculptors, weavers and photographers — artists of every imaginable medium — allow you into their homes and studios to see their work. Along the way, we stopped for lunch at Redwood Grill in Anchor Bay, California … a seaside community a block long. The soup of the day was spicy roasted red pepper crab bisque. It was indeed spicy and loaded with fresh crab. An incredible dish that apparently is a menu staple. One of the best I’ve ever tasted.
