In the November/December issue of the National Geographic Traveler magazine, listed in group #11 among the World’s Great Places, is “California northern coast (Marin County to Eureka)”. The article states: “Legendary for its wineries and scenic coastline, this region also entices with the calm and quiet of small towns, farms and ranches. Despite suburban sprawl in Sonoma and Marin, development appears to be within reason and consistent with the environment.”
Conducted by the National Geographic Society’s Center for Sustainable Destinations, the Survey evaluated 133 world wide destinations considering the stewardship provided by local involvement, plus pollution, cultural quality, authenticity, and tourism management of each area. A panel of 437 well traveled experts participated.

Artists are being invited to paint a Skunk Train rail car that will be part of a new premium rail service offered in the near future. With more than 55,000 riders each year the Skunk Train, resurrected and revitalized a few years ago, continues to thrill and inspire. Can’t wait to see the results.
