September 18-October 19: Neil LaBute’s “Autobahn”
Take a ride with us along “Autobahn”, Neil LaBute’s classic situational tribute to the interpersonal intimacies that take place in everyday American’s home-away-from-home: the front seat our automobile. LaBute shows a compelling treatment of the delicate relationship between language and intention, expression and silence, that is the essence of Middle America and the many lives that crisscross its surface. October 18-November 2: Second Annual Day of the Dead
Join us through Mendocino County for a variety of events in their honor as we celebrate with those who have gone before us. Feast with them and welcome them home for a visit. The Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is a time for the dead to return home and visit loved ones, feast on their favorite foods and listen to their favorite music.
October 17 through November 27, 2008: Three Rivers Studios, Mixed Media, Mixed Artists
From a fascinating group of 10, Three Rivers Studios group, who has open studios year around, exhibits in their home as well as numerous galleries, both locally and abroad. Three Rivers Studios’ art ranges from luminous abstracts to Japanese-influenced pottery; their inspiration is as diverse as the artists – nature, light, travel, inward journeys. Mendocino Art Center
The Mendocino Art Center is a major center of culture for the Mendocino Coast, showing plays, fine art exhibitions, musical performances and much more from local, regional and international artists. October 2 - 31, 2008: “Foreign Affairs” exhibit
Abramson Gallery, Mendocino Art Center, 45200 Little Lake Street, Mendocino
In June of this year, a group of Mendocino Coast residents and former residents shared a villa in the outskirts of Lucca, Italy. “Foreign Affairs” at the Abramson Gallery at the Mendocino Art Center will feature the work of Karen Bowers, Leonardo Bowers, Mina Cohen, Sharon Hunter, Elaine Leedy, Jeff Leedy, Bill Mahon, and Bob Rhoades. The beauty of Tuscany inspired work created during the week at the villa, on travels before arriving in Tuscany and after the stay.
