Christine Schomer
“Orient Express!”

The new work of Shuziko McConathy and Christine Schomer in watercolor and ceramics. Shuziko McConathy is an accomplished sumi-e and Japanese calligraphy artist. She is presenting her new work of gardens and visionary landscapes in watercolor. These new pieces contain elements of her expressive sumi-e paintings but with exquisite color! The natural world is always the inspiration for Christine’s work. She has been using some new techniques to transfer her designs to clay. Some of the new ceramics feature a photo transfer process that results in delicate natural images of leaves and grasses embellishing her new platter designs. Christine has also been using sumi-e techniques to decorate some of her work.

Please join us on second Saturday, June 14th from 5-8 for a Japanese inspired art and refreshments!

Christine Schomer
“Ravens in Flight, and other Phenomena”

The Edgewater Gallery features in June the new work of Christine Schomer in ceramics and paintings. The natural world is the inspiration for these new pieces. Christine has been using some new techniques to transfer her designs to clay and canvas. The new paintings are not the usual graphic designs she has been known for in the past. Some are done in acrylic paint and, using unconventional painting methods, capture the light of early morning as the ravens fly out to forage and the fading day as they fly home to roost. Some of the new ceramics feature a photo transfer process to embellish new platter designs with delicate natural images of leaves, grasses and fungi.

Reception for the artist will be Friday, June 6 from 5 – 8 PM.
