Artist Profile: Marty Roderick, Ceramicist and Painter

Portrait of Marty RoderickPortrait of Marty Roderick by Larry Wagner

I have worked in clay for the past thirty years, learning my craft at the Mendocino Art Center. I was very fortunate to have been surrounded by a group of skilled and generous potters, including my teacher, Robert Zvolensky, who I eventually followed to the College of the Redwoods.

I started painting with acrylics five years ago, enhancing my experience with several classes from Robert Burridge at the Art Center. I consider my paintings to be expressionistic graphics. I love working with color and the tactile quality of acrylics.

I live and work in the bucolic Anderson Valley surrounded by vineyards and the coastal foothills. It is a very creative atmosphere. I also have been a volunteer at the Art Center for the last 27 years.

Currently Showing: Marty’s work is on display at Navarro Designs in Philo, CA.
