Young Artists’ Exhibit at the Mendocino Art Center
The Mendocino Art Center will shine its gallery spotlight on aspiring young student artists in Mendocino County, December 5 through January 5. The annual Mendocino County Young Artists’ Exhibit will feature all-media artwork created by children in grades K-12, and will be held in the Art Center’s Main and Nichols galleries.
Each December the Mendocino Art Center invites Mendocino County young people to participate in this special exhibition opportunity. This year’s exhibit will include exceptionally creative works by approximately 200 students, including ceramics, collage, drawings, jewelry, paintings, photography and mosaic artwork. The Mendocino Art Center provides this student art showing as part of its continuing commitment to educate, encourage and nurture the artistic talents of children in the community.
Twenty-two schools from throughout Mendocino County are participating, including Baechtel Grove Middle School, Caspar Creek Learning Center, Comptche School, Dana Gray Elementary, Fort Bragg High School, Fort Bragg Middle School, Greenwood School, Laytonville High School, Mendocino Community School, Mendocino Grammar School, Mendocino High School, Mendocino Middle School, Noyo High School, Point Arena High School, Potter Valley Elementary School, Redwood Elementary School, Sprouts Family Learning Center, Three Rivers Learning Center, Ukiah High School, Willits High School, and Yokayo Elementary School, as well as Poets in the Schools and the Fiber Club.
Additional December exhibits include paintings by Sandy Wilson in Gallery Ten, and the Three Rivers Studio Show in the Abramson Gallery, featuring artists Joanne Abreu (gourds), Karen Bowers (paintings), Rita Crane (photography), Cliff Glover (ceramics), Marion Miller (ceramics), Laura Rose (paintings), and Richard Yaski (sculpture).
Young Artists Reception
A special meet-the-young-artists reception will be held on Saturday, December 8, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The general public is invited to attend and offer encouragement to the participating young artists.
2nd Saturday Artists Reception
A 2nd Saturday Artists Reception will be held Saturday, December 8, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Mendocino Art Center. The free reception offers guests the opportunity to meet and mingle with December’s featured gallery artists, while enjoying food, wine, fabulous artwork and live music.
